Archive: Investigating The Labour Shortage

Home Projects Archive: Investigating The Labour Shortage

This project dives into the issue Niagara is experiencing regarding labour shortages. Employer-identified labour shortages occur frequently in our conversations with local employers, stakeholders, and community groups. We’ve also found that local levels of unemployment are greater than those before the pandemic.

It’s unclear whether this shortage is due to mismatched skills, shifts to remote working, changes in the workforce, employer expectations in the workplace, employment uncertainties due to the pandemic (both barriers to and in employment), or some other reasons. This project investigates the contributing factors to the labour shortage due to the pandemic.
